Choosing a Meter Box Repair Kit
Recessed Meter Boxes
We manufacture two types of meter box repair kit for this type of meter box:
- Internally Fixed: These units fix to the inner sides of your meter box through the use of two vertical fixing plates with a number of holes for use with fixing screws.
- Externally Fixed: These units fix to the wall behind your meter box through the use of four fixing screws, one in each corner of the frame. The only externally fixed meter box repair kit that we manufacture for recessed meter boxes is the R10 Range.
Firstly you should check our internally fixed range to see if one of them is tailored for your box. If no internally fixed unit is suitable, then an externally fixed unit should be considered.
Internally Fixed Door and Frame Units
For an internally fixed door and frame unit to fit your meter box, the following conditions must be met:
- The external height, width and depth of the repair kit must be greater than those of your meter box.
- The fixing plate height of the repair kit must not exceed the internal height of your meter box.
- The fixing plate separation must be within 10mm of the internal width of your meter box.
Our internally fixed range consists of the R7, R17, R18, R20, R23, R27, and the R28.

Surface Mounted Meter Boxes
We manufacture three surface mounted meter box repair kits:
For gas meters we have:
- The R21G for meter boxes with extensive damage to the box and the backplate, also suitable in some cases for exposed meters. This unit fixes to the wall behind the meter/meter box using fixing screws and flanges that extend inwards at the rear of the unit.
- The R22G for meter boxes with an intact backplate. This unit is designed for a specific meter box and hooks onto the back plate in the same way the meter box does.
For electric meters we have:
- The R26E for damaged meter boxes where the box remains firmly attached to the wall. This unit attaches directly to the meter box itself using fixing screws that pass through the body of the meter box.
R21G Door and Frame
For the R21G to fit your gas installation, the height, width and depth of the meter box or meter must be less than 520 x 470 x 255 (h x w x d).
