WiFi Gateway Getting Started Guide

      

Introduction

The WiFi Gateway is a wireless device used to connect compatible Codelocks smart locks to your WiFi network in conjunction with the K3 Connect App*. It can be used to manage and control locks remotely via the K3 Connect App*.

Requirements

  1. A smart device running either Android version 4.3+ or an iPhone running iOS 10.0+
  2. A compatible Codelocks smart lock
  3. IEEE 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz) wireless network
  4. WiFi SSID and password
  5. Strong and steady WiFi connection
  6. USB type A socket with a steady 5v power supply

Installation

To install the WiFi Gateway simply plug it into a steady power source (i.e. a wall socket with USB port) which has a minimum 5v power supply.
Important Notes
  1. Placing the WiFi Gateway in any type of enclosure such as a cupboard or cabinet may reduce or block the WiFi connection.
  2. Close proximity to your WiFi router may cause interference. Install at least 1 metre from your router.
  3. Building structure may reduce the range or cause connectivity issues.
  4. Multiple WiFi Gateways may be required in installations with multiple locks.
  5. The K3 Connect App*, available on Android and iOS App stores, is required for installation. Refer to the K3 Connect User Guide or codelockssupport.com for more information.
  6. Only the lock administrator is able to connect the lock to the WiFi Gateway.


Set Up

Before proceeding: If you have not done so already, download the K3 Connect App* and add the locks. For more detailed instruction on how to do this check your lock’s programming and operation instructions or the K3 Connect User Guide.

Note: You must be the lock’s administrator to add it to a WiFi Gateway.
  1. Connect the WiFi Gateway to e USB power source. The LED will remain red for Approximately 15 seconds whilst the device starts.
  2. Open the K3 Connect App*.
  3. Swipe left on the lock and select Info.
  4. One the Info screen, scroll to Gateway Management and select Setup New Gateway.
  5. Enter your WiFi network name (SSID) and password. Sync to Lock when complete.
  6. When prompted, using the pin (if lost, an unfolded paperclip will suffice) located in the WiFi Gateway’s box, press the pinhole button. The pairing process will begin. A confirmation notification will be displayed on completion.
Note: If the Gateway Management option is not available, ensure that the K3 Connect App* and lock firmware are both up to date.


Adding Additional Locks

  1. Open the K3 Connect App*.
  2. Swipe left on the lock and select Info.
  3. On the Info screen scroll to Gateway Management and select Use Existing Gateway.
  4. Select the WiFi Gateway you would like to add the lock to. The pairing process will begin. A confirmation notification will be displayed upon completion.
 

Factory Reset

  1. Hold down WiFi Gateway pinhole button using the supplied pin or an unfolded paperclip.
  2. The LED will change to solid yellow, continue to hold down for 5 seconds until the LED turns off.
  3. Release the button. The WiFi Gateway will revert to factory settings.
Note: If the LED is solid red, refer to Troubleshooting.

Firmware update required
The WiFi Gateway is updating its firmware. Do not unplug the unit - wait for the LED to revert to normal.
Flashing Green
Setup mode
The WiFi Gateway is in setup mode. Wait 30 seconds.
Flashing Red
WiFi connection error
Make sure your router is near to the WiFi Gateway and is functioning correctly. Check in the K3 Connect App* that your SSID (WiFi name) and password is correct.
Alternating off, Red and Green
Locks connection
Check the status of the locks.
